There is no doubt that we should keep looking ahead. That is how any progress is made. And yet, there is a lot of advantage to looking backwards. In our fixation to looking forward, we often forget how and why it is equally important to look backwards.
Looking backwards lets you learn important life lessons. It also gives you perspective. When we look back, we learn not to give too much significance to things that may seem extremely important at the moment, but may not be so important in the long run. Looking back also allows us to be aware of our roots, no matter how high our wings take us.

As the economic crisis continues, more and more people are losing their jobs. How about taking this opportunity to free yourself from the shackles of the corporate world and engaging in something that is truly meaningful to you compared to the job you have at the moment? How about doing something you truly enjoy and not dread when you wake up in the morning.
Be bold. Take a Chance. Follow your heart. Earn your livelihood from an activity that brings you pleasure. You may earn a little less, but the joy and satisfaction it will bring to your life is incomparable.

Do you remember what it was like when you were first in live? Your feet didn’t touch the ground and there was a tune on your lips. What happened to that feeling?
You don’t have to get a new partner in life to experience that feeling again. It doesn’t have to be a person you fall in love with, although it can. Fall in love with something else- an art, a craft, your kids, your job, flowers, spring, anything at all. Just go out and find an excuse to skip in the air and hum a tune.

Have you built something out of nothing with your very own hands? If not, you have no idea what you are missing out on. Ask the people whose work or hobby involves creating something and they will tell you of the joy and satisfaction it brings.
You don’t have to worry about how good looking or useful your creation is. It could be a palace made of cards, a new recipe, a poem, a toy, a painting, a piece of woodcraft or any other thing you can think of. The sense of achievement you will feel when your creation is complete is incomparable to anything you have ever experienced before.

Most of us are racing toward our next car, the bigger house and fancier gadgets. While there is nothing wrong with being ambitious, in this race, we sometimes forget about the simpler pleasures in life.
Sure, winning a smile is not the same as getting a promotion, but yet, a smile can make us feel better and wholesome in a way that has nothing to do with our success. Simple pleasures in life simply make us feel good about being alive and being ourselves.

enviroment
We all know the bad shape the environment is in. Experts tell us we should have started caring about it a long time ago. But, we didn’t and here we are on the brink of destroying the planet as we know it.
It’s never too late to start. It doesn’t have to be big and overwhelming an activity. You can start with something as small as using recyclable products or donating a small amount to an environmental charity. Or you could do a number of other things to help the cause of protecting nature. Do your bit. You owe it to Nature.

Are you someone who donates to charity on a regular basis? If not, consider doing something for people who are less privileged than you are. Find a cause that appeals to you. You could contribute to the care of veterans, people from war ravaged zones in the world or the disabled. You could help people fight diseases, illiteracy and hunger. You could also care for pets, endangered animals or plants.
You don’t have to donate thousands. Just donate say worth one cup of coffee a day and the satisfaction you will derive from it will be unequalled by all the coffees you can have.
