They say there is a story within all of us. I say, there is a poem within all of us too!
There is nothing so romantic or innocent as writing a short poem. You need not worry yourself with rhyming lines, meters and scansion. Just let yourself go and write a poem. Write a love poem or a poem about a friend. Immortalize your pet, your child, your passion or your life in a few verses written by you. Express gratitude to your parents or undying love to your partner. Just put your feelings down on in the form of a poem.

Be Creative

Every single one of us has a creative streak within ourselves. Just because we may not be talented enough to make our livelihood out of it does not mean that we cannot engage in creative activities. It is important to let your creative juices flow. You can’t imagine how refreshing and revitalizing creating something can be.
Write something, paint something, cook something. Create a new dance step, make artistic doodles. There is no limit to what you can create when you put your mind to it. Let yourself go. After all, you don’t have to worry about selling it.

Take a Break

When was the last time when you had the time to do nothing at all? Most of our lives get scattered between keeping deadlines and getting done with our chores. We hardly give ourselves time to stop and think.
Take a break. Take a day off and don’t schedule anything for that day. Wake up when you do and let your heart decide what to do next. Curl up with a book, cook a fine meal, go for a walk or drive around the countryside. Just do as you please for one day. Your work, worries and concerns can wait.

Cultivating a hobby together with your child can be a very enriching experience. It allows you to spend quality time with each other and learn new things.
Identify your child’s interest and cultivate a hobby around it. At first, it will give you the opportunity to engage your child in an activity that he already likes. As time goes, your child will have spent more time than you on the hobby and is likely to be better informed. Being something of an expert in his hobby will give your child a huge boost in confidence and self esteem.

Return to Nature

Most of us feel that a few plants in our backyard and a glimpse of the mountain range in the distant horizon are enough nature. Nothing could be further from the truth. Nature is the all-encompassing entity within which we exist and it is nice to get back in touch with nature once in a while.
Nature is an amazing teacher. It teaches us to be humble and patient. It teaches us to respect forces that are beyond our control. But, most of all, it teaches us to relax and enjoy ourselves. It reminds us what it means to be alive.

Have you ever been in close proximity of a really large mountain range? If not, don’t miss out on this wonderful experience. The majesty of a mountain range is unmatched by anything else you will ever lay your eyes on. And, peering down a steep mountain cliff is an experience you will never forget in your life.
Get back in touch with nature. Mountains have a lot to teach human beings. They remind us to be humble, to respect nature. They will teach you to be calm and patient. They remind us to exist in harmony with those around us.

There are millions of people in the world who go through their entire lives without once actually seeing the ocean. Are you one of them? You have no idea what experience you are missing.
There is nothing as calming and soothing as watching waves break over and over again. The sheer size of the ocean is enough to instill a sense of humility in us. The choppy waves and indefinable depth of the ocean will remind you of the relationship between man and nature. And the beauty of the sun setting over the edge of the ocean is a sight you will remember all your life.

You know there are people in your life that you would have liked to stay in touch with, but constant pressures of life have kept you from doing it. Maybe, you are waiting for the right occasion or maybe you are just waiting till you have more time.
Don’t wait. Life is too short. Reacquaint yourself with loved ones from the past. You have no idea how much satisfaction and joy you will get from it. Your future is informed by your past. Don’t detach yourself from your roots. You will find wholesomeness in the present by connecting with your past.

For most of us, it is the jangling of the alarm clock that wakes us up in the morning. And, for most of us waking is not a pleasant experience- we wish we could have slept longer. But, the day beacons and we are out of our beds in a rush.
Instead, wake up with a smile. Take a moment to languish in bed for a few minutes before you open your open your eye. Take a couple of deep breaths. You will be surprised at how much more energized and positive you feel, by keeping the first few moments of the day to yourself.
