Enjoy Solitude
Jun 8th, 2009 by Sudarsana

solitude
Most people would balk at the idea of being completely alone. This is because most people associate the term ‘alone’ with ‘lonely’. But that is not necessarily true. Being alone does not have to mean being lonely. You feel lonely if you crave company and don’t have any. But, if you learn to enjoy solitude, you will never have to worry about feeling lonely. Ironically, the antidote to feeling lonely is making peace with being alone. In solitude, you get a chance to take a breather from the hectic pace of life and gives you a chance to reflect on the most important things in your life.

Anger is perhaps the most destructive emotion in us human beings. It is like acid, it not only kills what it spills on, it also corrodes the vessel it is contained in.
As you grow older, you mature and when you look back at the times when you were raging mad, you will find that there were much better ways of dealing with any situations. It is difficult to consider this when one is angry. But, if you are conscious of the fact that whatever makes you angry today, may not even be of any importance to you tomorrow, it will help control your anger.

For most people language is just a tool of communication, which it is. And yet, language can be much more than that. A language is so huge a concept that it is impossible for a person to master it in its entirety even after a lifetime of dedication. What this means is that no matter how much you know, there is always more to explore. You can almost make a game out of it. We, as human beings, are defined by what we can think. Expanding your vocabulary could well be the means of expanding our horizons of thought.

Start Saving

This must sound like an impractical advice when people around seem to be struggling to make ends meets. And yet, it is a very useful habit to cultivate. It is not just about the lump sum amount of money you get at the end, it is much more than that.
Saving money teaches you the important of frugality. It also teaches you that instant gratification is not always the way to go. It also teaches you that it takes a lot of small measures to accomplish something big. Saving a dollar a day may not seem like a big enough deal, but try it to find out.

This may sound like a ridiculous suggestion, but it is not. Most people don’t think of trees as a personal thing, just something to look at. Consider making a tree a part of your life instead. You will be surprised at the difference it makes to your life.
A tree is something that needs care and nurturing. It needs you to be responsible. It teaches us valuable life lessons. A tree does not grow overnight. It teaches us to be patient. It also teaches us to think of the long term, and no doubt our planet and our race is in dire need of long term thinking.
